Artist of the month-Trust Company

Recently I sorted my CDs from by grade and pick up some single songs in order to edit a "Favorite Music List" in my computer.Suddenly,I glimpsed a familiar song title "Downfall". I started to retrieve my old memory about the song's melody and the band's style.Gosh!I will never forget that powerful voice and rumbling drumbeats. However, they are not as fame as some popular band such as Linkin Park or Metallica. So if you haven't know this band yet,you will be regretful

Trust company, which is formed in 1997,has four members-vocals and guitar player Kevin Palmer, another guitar player James Fukai, drummer Jason Singleton, and bass Eric Salter.Thier music genre is a kind of Hard Rock. After 7 years hardwork, they release their debut album "The Lonely Position of Neutral" in 2002,he album was well received with the lead single "Downfall" gaining heavy exposure through MTV. Subsequently, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts.

After their astonishing debut,Trust Company was scheduled to play at Ozzfest 2003 but was forced to back out by their label in order to work on their second album "True Parallels" which was belatedly released in 2005.Despite little promotion from their label, the album entered the Billboard album charts at #32, and has gone on to sell in excess of 200,000 copies. The first and only single from the album, "Stronger," made a moderate impact on mainstream rock radio.

The band has now expanded its touring to the east coast, with The Exies as the headlining act.Now let's take a look at thier MVs!

advantage of living in a dormitory

There are three advantages of living in the dormitory.

The first reason is our scholl's location.CGU is located between Taipei and Taoyuan country.CGU is surrounded by mountains and hills. For this reason, the traffic is inconvenient.Unless you drive to school with your parents or settle in the area where is near to the bus station, you have to waste much of time on communication everyday.Otherwise, you had better live in student's dormitory in order to attend class on time

The second main reason is the rent. The price of CGU's dormitory is cheap--$7800 per a semester, which is below the other school's average, and everything you buy in the school will recieve 10% discount.Besides, the facilities in the room are perfect and luxury comparing with other schools. You can enjoy your everday life in the school.

The third reason, which is the most important,is the interaction with schoolmates.By living in the dormitory, you surely have more time getting along with your classroom than living in your home. Many problems in homework or class course can be resoled by group discussion, and that will be faster and easier.

To sum up,although leaving away from your hom make you homesick, you can acquire many valuable experience more than you expect.

Brave swap out four prospects for Javier Vazquez

Brave's GM Frank Wren had been said that his ultimate goal in this winter is rebuilds the fracture arm depth and finds a powerful outfielder, and he make the first step this week.

The deal has been announced officially-Braves acquired RHP Javier Vazquez and LHP Boone Logan from the White Sox for catcher Tyler Flowers, infielder Brent Lillibridge, third baseman Jon Gilmore and LHP Santos Rodriguez. It seems that it's a nice trade for Brave though they lose the one of the top prospect Tyler Flowers.

"Big Game Javy" is a durable mid-rotation starter, good for 200 innings a year, and still young at 31.Some scouts ponits out that he has the potential to become a elite starter, but fail to meet the expectation. He sits 90-93 mph, bumping 94, without much movement. He works with three off-speed pitches -- slider, curve and changeup -- none plus, both breaking balls around average, the change slightly below, and has better control than command; his 59 unintentional walks this year actually his made up his highest total since his rookie year in 1998. However, his outstanding strikeout ability makes himself so attractive to Brave.Vazquez actually ranks ninth among active starters in strikeouts, 14th in innings pitched, 13th in fewest walks per nine innings, and 11th in home runs allowed. His arrival surely will give Brave a better reliable option.

Flowers, on the other hand, is going to produce offensively at the big-league level, possibly as soon as 2010.He has a very good eye and raw power, particularly to left and left-center. (His 17 home runs may not look impressive, but Myrtle Beach -- high Class A -- is a horrible place to hit.)Just in this month,Flowers crash the AFL pticher by 14 homeruns which is one shy to the AFL record and 1.074 ops.Unfortunatelly, his future seems cloudy just like former catcher prospect Jarrod Saltalammacchia due to the current backstop Brian McCann, who blocks on the homeplate and has proved his ability.

If Flowers reaches or comes near his ceiling, he alone is a good return on two years of Vazquez at a slightly below-market $11 million per year. But if Flowers can't catch or has too much trouble making contact at higher levels, the rest of the package isn't likely to make up for it.

Such a dxxm cold weather!

Everthing has turned to a new page except the weather, which is similar what I had experiented in Taipei in the past 19 years.
According to the weather report,a cold wave comes from the coast of north-easter Taiwan, and it has derived 16 people's lives. This is the coldest week since the winter begin.Unfortunatelly, students also suffer this horrible weather condition. Not only heavy fabric clothes have been taken out of the closet but also some warming items like scarf or disposable heat pads are all available in the convenience store.
To keep the air warming in the room,we turn on the air conditoner. However,we set the temperature to 30℃,which is much higher to the outside temperature.By this way,we save not only our health but also our money.Because the temperature changes so quickly in night, many classmates catch cold during the sleep time due to careless..So this method can maintain the constant suitable environment for our to work or sleep.
Anyway,I hope this annoying bad weather can disappear as soon as possible!

Fantasy Baseball Strategy

I would like to get back to basics for this post. Time to discuss my strategy for winning a fantasy baseball mixed league of normal size and conditions (H2H or roto). All of my title-winning fantasy teams were built this way.

1-Use conservative projections. Ideally, you should average preseason projections together from five different sources. This drastically reduces the risk of overrating or underrating a player. It also reminds you that last year isn't everything and players like Jermaine Dye and Jason Bay can bounce back.

2.-Don't consider starting pitching until the eighth round of the draft. The following starters went within the first seven rounds in March of '07: Erik Bedard, Josh Beckett, Justin Verlander, Aaron Harang, and John Smoltz. Sure, I cherry-picked the bad ones. But early-round picks on starters have been and will always be very dangerous, capable of ruining your season.

3.-Pursue power/speed threats whenever possible. Corey Hart, Bobby Abreu, Matt Kemp, Ian Kinsler, Nate McLouth...these players give you a balanced attack. You don't want to be drafting Willy Taveras for speed, Placido Polanco for average, and Adam Dunn for power.

4-Don't pay for closers. Most experts harp on this point, but you still see J.J. Putz drafted in the fifth round ahead of Kinsler. It's not that this never works; closers routinely provide tons of value. It just increases your risk unnecessarily. Wait until after the tenth round to draft a closer.

5-Heed position scarcity. In particular, respect position scarcity for shortstops and catchers. Note where the dropoff occurs for these positions and don't miss out on all of the top guys. Sure, you could pluck a Geovany Soto or a Ryan Theriot. But again, you increase your chances of busting.

6-Be a waiver wire maniac. Some will tell you to leave your team untouched until May, because early stats can be deceiving. This is bad advice. Leave your stars alone, but aggressively pick up decent-looking players. Every roster has a few spots to allow for turnover. If you're not aggressive, you miss out on Cliff Lee and Ryan Dempster. Pick up now, ask questions later. Waiver wire aggression is also how you accumulate closers.

7-Trade pitching for hitting. You'll find pitching easier to find on the waiver wire, so trade pitchers for star hitters whenever possible.

Rumor has it that....

The Chicago White Sox declined outfielder Ken Griffey Jr.'s $16.5 million option for 2009,and Jr. will gets a $4 million buyout. It means that this is will be Griffey's first time filing for free agent market in his 20 years career life.Despite his superior denfense ability and his experience still can help him landing a starting job this winter, but it's unlikely that he will receive a mutiple contract and substantial salary due to his injury prone. For this point,Braves' GM Frank Wren should take him into consideration for team rebuilding. He is a suitable LF candidate and won't occupy much of team's budge. What the more, his great popularity should attract thousands of fans watching Braves' game.

Another outfield slugger candidate is Tiger's Magglio Ordonez, who will owe $18 million in 2009 and $15 million salaries in 2010 and 2011. Because Tiger's GM Dave Dombrowski is looking to create funds on the Tigers payroll,he may consider dealing this all-star slugger.Magglio Ordonez,34 years old,is a one of the MLB elite outfielders, and with many of Braves' hitters in the lineup are lefty,Maggie's right-handed swing can balance the lineup. If Tigers are willing to absorb half of Ordonez's salary, that Frank Wren may got deal with his best friend just like last year's Scenario.

What a energetically morning!

Exercising in the morning with your friends is a great thing, especially in such a environment surrounded with fresh air and warmming sunshine!

This Friday our computer-science teacher had some official business and need to fly to Hualien,so we got a day off in Friday morning's class course. Some of my friends suggested that why not do some exercise in the morning like volleyball or tennis? It sounds great, and there just two tennis courts and two volleyball courts next to our dormitory,so we make an appointment that gathering in there at 7:30 am.

In the next morning, seven guys appeared in the courts, and only two will play volleyball. It made me confuse-is volleyball so dreary?Another calssmate is the only member in our a college department who join the school's volleyball club. After warmming with him,we started to practiced some volleyball basically skill by passing the ball to each other. After a while,I finally realized that no wonder there is no one want to play volleyball. Not only you have to hit the ball to the air vertically but also have to notice your arm carefully. If your action wasn't correctly, your will feel painful about your arm.So after 30 minutes, some "black-blue" appeared on my arm. Then I stopped for rest.

When I took a break by the side of the court,I found that playing tennis seems interesting-at the least you have a racket in your hand.I borrowed a racket and a ball from my friend.and test my tennis skill.Shooo~~a ball was struck by the net, firing to the wall, and bounced back. That's great!!In my opinion, tennis is easier to learn than volleyball. Then I asked a partner to play tennis with me.Though I couldn't control the ball's direction on my own way,and sometimes I couldn't hit the ball over the net which acrossed the court. However, just like table tennis, you don't have to use your all power to strike back the ball, and if your skill is mature, you can see a beautiful curve down to the court. That's why so many people are fascinated by the tennis!

To sum up,it's great to exercising in the morning, and if I have a free time,I would try some others sports items!

Free Writting

Will Jake Peavy be in the Tomahawk uniform next year?
According to the news from San Dieago, the Padres’ GM Kevin Towers is considering to rebuild the team by trading their current players, including their ace Jake Peavy Peavy, who is 6-11,is the 2007 NL cy-young winner and has pitched over 200 innings in 4 consective seasons.
I don’t know what I am talking about. So, I want to change a topic to write. The baseball is a great exercise that everyone can play. You just find enough people and a good baseball ground.
Yeah, baseball it a popular sport in very contry. But,I want to play basketball more than baseball,so I do not what I say before.Would you tell me what I say?
Finally, I think we can join the baseball team together and play baseball with each other.

According the online ballot form AJC,over 90 percent people agree that Frank Wren should get Peavy. In my opinion ,if the Brave can get the Peavy via trade ,it will be fantastic, and the scence like 1993 Greg Maddux’s effection could happen in the next year, when the Brave started their 14-consective division pennants dynasty.

How to play Fantasy Baseball chapter 2-Rotisserie

Last time we talk about Fantasy H2H rules, and this time we will continue our introduce about the another kind of game style-Rotisserie

At first,in rotisserie scoring leagues, team totals are ranked from best to worst in each of the statistical categories, and points are awarded for each place based on the season-to-date cumulative totals. For example, the first-place team in a category receives 10 points, the second-place team nine, and so on until the last place team with one point. If two teams tie for the same place, they will split the total of thier scores equally. For example,if two teams both occupy in the first place, each of them will recieve 9.5 points, and the third place player will recieve 8 points. The same algorithm holds for ties between more than two teams.

Second, the biggest difference between H2H and Rotisserie are the "starting pitchers games limits and innings pitched minimums".The games-started limit is 180 games for full-season teams with an average of one start per day of the season. If one team excees the 180-game maximum, then it won't accumulate statistics for starting pitchers following the day.For example, an owner may have 179 games started near the end of the season. If they then start 5 pitchers in a single day, their games-started total will be 184. Once having now reached the maximum (180), the team will no longer be credited with any additional stats for any subsequent day. However, the relievers wont't be restricted by the rule.If a pitcher who is originally a starter appears in relief, it is considered a relief appearance, and is not restricted by the games-started limit.

Maybe you will think that"Why not pick up relievers as many as possible to dominant in some category like ERA and K?"To prevent such a gambler using this method, the system set a limit that all the players must have accumulated a minimum of 800 innings (400 innings for midseason teams) pitched by the end of the FLB season.

The final goal for all the players is winning the champion. So in the last day of the season, the cumulative totals are calculated, and the team with the most total points is declared the league winner. If two or more teams tie for their rotisserie championship, they are declared co-champions and each awarded the league winner's prizes.

How to play Fantasy Baseball chapter 1-H2H

With the fever of MLB is so popular in Taiwan(though most Taiwanese like Yanks, which I disgust with),some baseball-related games are also catching on this tide.Fantasy Baseball is one of the best example. The popularity of fantasy games has grown tremendously in the last decade. The ability of the Web to deliver immediate sports statistics takes interaction with the sporting world to a whole new level, increasing the enjoyment of fantasy games by providing a more personal experience for sports fans of all ages and intensities.Despite running your team through then whole season, you can gain some experience about how to make transaction with others or plan your own winning ways.Every year some famous website like Yahoo or ESPN will build Fantasy Baseball system for millions of baseball fans.

Fantasy baseball can divide into two category-H2H and Rotisserie.H2H fantasy baseball and Rotisserie very similarly, but with some added twists. Here I will talk about H2H first.H2H is the short name of Head-to-Head. The overall concept of the H2H is simple - to draft the best players at each position in order to accumulate the most statistics in each of the ten(or more) scoring categories. However, instead of all ten teams in a league competing at once against each other, your team is matched up each week against another team in the league to see who can attain the most stats. For example, you may have a dominating week, outscoring your opponent by 10-0,and next week you could tie with your opponent by spliting the 10(or more) scores. If your hitters get in a slump and your pitchers are struggle, you may got "0" in the contest.Anything could happen in the game!

Some league opener may make some limits to the players, like innings pitching, transaction veto or waiver waiting. You shoud notice your league's rule to make sure about your team strategy. We will talk about the preseason draft and regular season team management in the following chapter.

At the end of the season, the league champion is determined through the playoffs! In general the half of the total teams will win the chance to break into the playoffs. Division winners and wild card teams in head-to-head baseball may not be determined until the last out of the season, and once again,in the competitive playofs contest, everything can happen. If you can grab the chance to pick up a player in hot streak in the key time through the 2~3 rounds competition, you will have great chance to win the pennant!Good Luck!
